LUCKNOW: Girls have once again outscored boys in the race for top academic honours in the King George���s Medical University (KGMU).
If over 70 per cent names in the under-graduate medal tally are of female students, boys managed to save some reputation by dominating the post-graduate list of toppers.
The names were finalised on Friday by the medal committee.

The students will be honoured in the annual convocation scheduled on January 10, 2006.
According to sources, Shalini Maheshwari, MBBS 2005 student, has been selected for the prestigious Hewett gold medal given to the best student and topper of all four years in the MBBS course.

A resident of Ghaziabad, Shalini has also bagged six other gold medals and two silver medals for high scores in various subjects.
Significantly, girls have been dominating the MBBS medal list, particularly bagging the Hewett medal, in KGMU since last two decades, while the boys in last three years have brought bad name by being caught in various paper leakage scandals and criminal activities.
Neha Negi, MBBS, has been chosen for two gold medals and one book prize. Surabhi Chandra will receive three gold medals. Deepti Verma, Kusum Lata, Azka Juberi, Dipali Singh, Nupur Taneja, Anjum Aara and Aditya Kumar are among those who will receive one gold medal each respectively.

Gyan Prakash and Ankur Zindal will share one gold medal for best marks in pathology. Gyan is also the best scorer in microbiology.

In the post-graduate section, Dr Meena Agarwal, Dr Richa, Dr Bharat, Dr Lallan Jha, Dr Ravindra Kumar, Dr Madhulika, Dr Tanu, Dr Bhupesh Singh, Dr Bhupendra Singh, Dr Rajat Ranjan, Dr Neeraj Kant Agarwal, Dr Amitabh Das Shukla and Dr Geeta Mishra will be awarded gold medals for topping in their respective subjects.
Prof PN Tandon, neurologist, will be the chief guest of the convocation in which 160 MBBS students and 140 MD/MS students will be awarded degrees. Chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and chancellor/governor TV Rajeswar will also grace the occasion.
The convocation ceremony will also mark the end of centenary celebrations of KGMU founded in 1905. It would also be the first time the medical students will have a separate convocation from dental students as the latter are now the part of dental university.
