‘Glass slipped from his hand’: How Prateek Yadav’s final moments unfolded at his Lucknow home
Prateek Yadav, stepbrother of Akhilesh Yadav, passed away after a sudden medical emergency at his Lucknow residence.
LUCKNOW: New details have emerged on the final moments of Prateek Yadav, with accounts describing how a late-night wake-up turned into a sudden medical emergency that later turned fatal.Prateek, the stepbrother of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav, reportedly woke up around 4 am on Wednesday at his residence in Lucknow and went to drink water near his bedroom area, according to his father-in-law Arvind Singh Bisht.Arvind Singh Bisht told TOI that an attendant present in the house recounted the sequence of events. “Prateek was on the ground floor near his bedroom and had gotten up around 4am to drink water. While drinking water, the glass slipped from his hand and he fell,” he said.Initially, the attendant did not realise the seriousness of the situation, assuming that Prateek may have been drowsy or unwell at that hour. “But after hearing the sound and checking on him again, the attendant sensed something was wrong,” Bisht added.Within a short time, concern grew as Prateek did not recover normally after the fall. Around 5 am, the attendant contacted his son and Aparna Yadav’s brother Aman Singh Bisht, who lives nearby.
He immediately rushed to the residence and transported Prateek to the Civil Hospital in Lucknow. However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.Earlier postmortem findings indicated that Prateek died due to a massive pulmonary thromboembolism, a condition in which a blood clot blocks blood flow to the lungs, leading to sudden collapse of heart and respiratory function.Sources said he had recently been undergoing treatment for health complications, including hypertension and pulmonary embolism, and was on blood-thinning medication.Prateek, the younger son of late Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav and his second wife Sadhna Gupta, largely stayed away from active politics and was known for his work in fitness and gym culture in Lucknow. His last rites will be held at Baikunth Dham in Lucknow today.
