allahabad: workers of the u p loktantrik congress, led by city president vishal srivastava recently burnt an effigy of osama bin laden and raised slogans like "end global terrorism" at subhash crossing recently.
denouncing terrorism, he criticised pakistan president parvez musharraf, who, he said, was blackmailing the us so that it didn''t take india''s help.it showed his inclination towards terrorism, srivastava added.
in his presidential address, district president jairam singh also opposed simi''s statement to favour afghanistan. it puts a question mark on his patriotic feelings, he added. city president nazim ansari said pakistan was promoting terrorism in india.
india was tired of saying this, but the us ignored the charge. it was only when it fell victim to terrorism, the us was lately believing india where terrorism had so far claimed several innocent lives. he also expressed hope that kashmir tangle would be solved soon.
the meeting was conducted by president of the city trade cell prakash sahu who said india should support the us in stamping out terrorism from the world.
those who burnt the efficty included city president (student wing) sudesh gaur, ratnesh khare, alok srivastava, a student leader of the kulbhaskar degree college, president of the minorities cell parvez jamal and others, according to a press statement of city president vishal srivastava.
an effigy of terrorism was, meanwhile, burnt by the all india rajiv gandhi cadre (congress) workers at district collectorate here, according to president om prkash tripathi. they also observed a two minutes silence and addressed a memorandum to the president, which was handed over to a district official, demanding a nation- wide agitation in this regard. a meeting was also addressed on the occasion by vice-president kashi p srivastava, secretary indresh tripathi, state president hakimuddin and others, said a press release.
