LU students throw weight behind whistle-blower

Lucknow: Several Lucknow University students took to social media on Saturday, lauding courage of the BSc final year student who exposed alleged misconduct by a zoology department assistant professor.

Using the hashtag “SaveLU”, the students demanded termination of his services. BA LLB student Mahima Rawat on Facebook lauded the girl for speaking up against someone in a position of power.

BA student, Aanshik Rastogi, said in her post that students across the campus are in solidarity with the girl. She added that such acts often go unreported due to fear.

In her post on X, BEd student Kusum Kannaujia said administration must take responsibility to create safer academic space.

In her post on Instagram, BA student, Priya Singh said strict action is necessary in such cases to maintain trust among students.

Another BA LLB student, Soumya Singh in her post emphasised on a mechanism for quick redressal of complaints without fear.

Vartika Kushwaha on Facebook said the university should ensure support systems so that ‘those suffering silently’ can come forward without hesitation.
