Some hair were also collected from the spot and have been sent for forensic examination. The boy recuperating at KGMU trauma centre pointed fingers at a senior female student.
On the basis of the description given by boy, police got a sketch made and started tracing the girl of standard VII student who kept short hair.
SSP Deepak Kumar who is supervising the probes personally said, “The incident is extremely unfortunate and shocking. We have found the kitchen knife that had been used to attack the boy and have sent it to Mahanagar forensic laboratory. Some hair have also been found and would be sent for matching. We will make arrests only on the basis of the boy’s statement.”
The suspected girl along with similar looking girl would be taken before the boy so that actual culprit is identified. “The girl would be sent to juvenile home subsequently,” said Kumar.
Within a few days of Gurugram based Ryan International School incident in which a student of class II was killed, then director general of police Sulkhan Singh had issued directives to all SPs to constitute a committee and carry out security audit of schools.
Kumar said, “A lot of steps had not been taken. The management did not inform police about the incident soon after the incident and seemed to have underplayed the crime. Action would be initiated against the owners.”
