LUCKNOW: It seems that the undergraduate admission process of Lucknow University has turned into a total chaos. Delayed by over two weeks, the first round of the allotment of seats did not even end on Wednesday. University officials said that admissions for the first allotment will be completed by July 18. "We are hopeful to declare the second merit list by July 19.

UG admissions will finish before this year as compared to last year,'' claimed university spokesperson Rajesh Mishra.
Last year, university's first merit cutoff was announced on June 23. This year, the first selected merit list came out on July 8 except for BA which somehow was announced on July 11. Some technical problems at the level of NIC (in-charge of admissions) and SBI where the course fee was submitted stalled the admission process. Further, gaffe on part of university admission officials to include students who did not participated in the document verification process escalated the problem.
There are around 200 students seeking benefit of reservation who did not verify their documents. However, their names appeared in the first selected merit list. Some even submitted the fees. The anomaly came to light while allotment letters were being generated. Now, the university has withheld the allotment letters of such students. Cancelling these admissions, the university will also refund their fees, said university authorities.
While admission officials kept mum on the issue, sources said the issue was highlighted when allotment letters were generated. "Details of students who did not verify their documents were re-checked while allotting letters. This is how the problem was identified,'' said sources.
With every day delay, students are a confused lot. Going by the initial online admission schedule, the university was supposed to finish the entire process by July 15. However, till Monday, not even all first merit list student took their allotment letter. The online choice filling was to finish on July 2, the first merit cutoff to be out on July 5, fee submission for first merit list students to close on July 8, the second merit cutoff to be declared on July 12, fee submission for second merit list till July 15 and beginning of new session on July 16. Due to server problems on first day of online choice filling, the last day was shifted to July 3. Subsequently, first merit list on July 6, and fee submission for first merit list students to end on July 9. The schedule for second merit list was unchanged.

University announced the first merit cutoff late July 8. Even then the merit list for BA was not announced. The fee submission for first merit list was extended to July 11. The second allotment result declaration was rescheduled to July 14. The fee submission for second allotment will be from July 15-17. The university declared the merit cutoff for BA on July 11. As a result, the fee submission was rescheduled to July 13 and the second merit list was likely to be declared on July 16 which is now shifted to July 19.
Twice has the university extended the date of PG application forms. Now, the last date for PG registrations is now July 21, fee submission for application form is July 22, and last date for form submission is July 24. Earlier, the last date for PG registration was July 10 which was extended to July 15. 2 The fee submission was to end on July 12 which was shifted to July 17 while the form submission was to close on July 14 which was moved to July 20.
"The deadlines are extended in the interest of students. Meritorious students who could not submit their fees were given an extra day on July 16 to make the payment. All admissions are in place,'' said Mishra.
