Maths trips aspirants, lengthy questions give tough time
Lucknow: Mathematics emerged as the toughest section in the Uttar Pradesh Police constable recruitment exam on Monday, with candidates across centres in the city reporting that lengthy, calculation-heavy questions made time management difficult.
Aspirants said the paper was largely balanced, but mathematics proved to be the deciding factor. Many expected general studies to pose a bigger challenge.
Rohit Sharma, a candidate from Gwalior, said the language section was straightforward, but maths slowed him down. “Most language questions were quick to solve, but mathematics took a lot of time. The questions were not tough, but the calculations were lengthy,” he said.
Priya Yadav, who travelled from Delhi, said: “The paper was moderate overall, but mathematics consumed more time than expected. General studies had a few analytical questions too. I had to skip some questions due to time constraints.”
Mukesh Meena from Rajasthan said the section tested both speed and accuracy.
Abhishek Singh from Prayagraj said mathematics influenced overall performance. “General studies was moderate, but maths was the key section. Many problems involved multiple steps, which affected time management,” he said.
Shivani Verma from Lucknow described the paper as tougher than expected. “The language section was easy, but maths and parts of general studies required deeper understanding. The paper was slightly tougher than anticipated,” she said.
