May-Lord! Please cool down blazing Sun
Lucknow: The city recorded its hottest day of the season on Monday as the maximum temperature touched 43.2 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees above normal. The heatwave also tightened its grip over the city.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature too was significantly high at 28.6 degrees Celsius, 3.3 degrees above normal, making it one of the warmest nights of the season. The previous highest maximum temperature of this summer so far season was 43 degrees Celsius.
The weatherman said the city is likely to continue experiencing harsh summer conditions, with clear skies and strong surface winds expected over Lucknow and surrounding areas. Wind speeds are likely to remain between 20 and 30 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 40 kmph.
The IMD has forecast dry weather across Uttar Pradesh and issued a warning for heatwave to severe heatwave conditions at a few places in both western and eastern parts of the state. Warm night conditions are also likely at isolated locations in western UP.
The combination of high daytime temperature and elevated night temperature has increased discomfort levels in the city. With no rainfall forecast and dry westerly winds prevailing, temperatures may remain around 43 degrees Celsius over the next 24 hours.
Officials have advised people to avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours and to remain hydrated as the heatwave conditions are expected to continue.
