Mayawati sacks party’s VP for remarks against Rahul Gandhi
LUCKNOW: A day after BSP vice-president Jai Prakash Singh said Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s “foreign blood” will not allow him to lead the country, he was sacked from all party posts for “making personal remarks”.
In a televised statement, BSP chief Mayawati said Singh made these remarks without any authorisation.
“I have received information that Jai
Prakash Singh has gone against the humanitarian ideology and policies of BSP and made personal remarks against the senior most leaders of opposition parties. This is completely against the culture, ideology and policies of BSP. These statements have nothing to do with BSP. They show his personal thinking,” Mayawati said.
She added that until an alliance with other parties was formally announced, BSP workers should not talk about a tie-up in UP or any other state and leave these matters to the party high command.
She said BSP had taken a very strict view of Singh’s statements and had decided to remove him both as national vice-president and national coordinator.
‘Our party workers should not emulate others’
“Indecent and disgraceful language against saints, gurus and revered persons of other parties should never be used. Our party workers should not emulate some leaders of other parties and make unrestrained speeches against anyone. I would also like to warn all small and big workers, post-holders and leaders of the party that during any meeting or cadre camp of BSP, they should only talk about the party’s ideology, policies and the movement,” Mayawati said.
Addressing a meeting of BSP workers where Mayawati was absent, Singh had said “if Rahul had gone on his father Rajiv Gandhi, there was still some hope for him.”
