Modi Lok Sabha ambition: Participants from UP invited at vibrant Gujarat education meet
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh will be getting special attention this time in Modi's Vibrant Gujarat National Education Summit scheduled to be held at Gandhinagar on January 10 and 11. For participatns, one of the reasons is obviously Modi's prime ministerial ambition post-Lok Sabha election 2014 other than it being a bid to focus on improving upon the education system in the country, for political observers, it is the main reason.
1x1 polls
For the first time, 90 participants including faculty, research scholars, undergraduate and post-graduate students from across the state would be heading for Gujarat to attend the two-day summit. While the convenor of the summit in the state along with the experts have been given AC II tier tickets, the students will be reimbursed sleeper class ticket to take part in the summit, said Dr Niranjan Kumar Singh, a lecturer at Sewa Samiti College, Ramnagar in Allahabad.
Dr Niranjan, who is also the convenor of the summit in the state, said that in all 5,000 participants including NRIs residing in various countries would be taking part in the two day summit. The aim of the summit, he said is to come out with ideas to improve upon the prevailing education system in the country while keeping moral values intact, Dr Niranjan said. Two senior government officials from Gujarat had come to the state inviting participants while delving in detail about the focus of the summit. This was about three months back. The two officials had held a meeting with Dr Niranjan.
However, a senior member of the delegation from the state said that the summit was nothing but Modi's homework to understand education system minutely. From focusing on Gujarat in its annual vibrant Gujarat programme, Modi, after being elevated in the party as its prime ministerial candidate, wants to make it pan-India through a discussion on Education system. For political observers, it is a bid to take a feel of what's the buzz about Lok Sabha election 2014 in various parts of the country since the two-day summit will also include Modi's one-to-one meeting with each group. Dr Niranjan, who is also the state convenor of Swadeshi Jagran Manch, confirmed that Modi is expected to have meeting with each group.
A participant also said that Modi would certainly like to understand the dynamics of politics of the state when he will be having a meeting with the members of each group.
With maximum number of 80 MPs going to Parliament from the state, the focus also is maximum on the state in the two day summit; a source told TOI and added that no other state would be bringing participants in such a large number. Participants from the state mostly belong to Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Meerut, Lucknow, Varanasi and other major cities like Allahabad, Dr Niranjan said.
