Over 10.77 lakh appear for two-day UP Police SI exam
Lucknow: The written examination for recruitment to 4,543 posts of sub-inspectors (civil police) and equivalent posts under the direct recruitment process saw a turnout of 5,45,721 candidates on Sunday.
Across the four shifts conducted over two days, out of a total of 15,75,760 registered candidates, at least 10,77,403 candidates appeared for the examination.
The overall attendance rate for the two-day examination stood at around 68.4%, indicating that more than two-thirds of registered candidates took the test.
Authorities maintained strict monitoring of social media platforms to curb rumours or attempts to circulate fake question papers. According to officials at the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB), the examination was held in two shifts at 1,090 centres across all 75 districts of the state. Three criminal cases were registered in different districts after authorities detected attempts to use forged documents and other unfair means.
In Meerut, a case was registered at Lalkurti police station after it was found that a candidate allegedly manipulated the date of birth on the Aadhaar card and admit card and used forged documents to appear for the examination.
In Varanasi, irregularities were detected at the Sanatan Dharma Inter College examination centre on Nai Sadak during Aadhaar authentication (e-KYC). Officials found that the candidate previously appeared in another examination using a different name and address.
Another case was reported in Budaun, where a candidate at Singler Girls Inter College examination centre was found using an Aadhaar card with an altered name and date of birth. Officials said strict vigilance was maintained throughout the examination to prevent malpractice, and legal action would be taken against anyone found attempting to compromise the integrity of the recruitment process.
In Prayagraj, a team of officials, including DM (Prayagraj) Manish Kumar Verma, along with officials, conducted a surprise inspection at Agrasen Inter College, Govt Girls Inter College, and other exam centres, and issued necessary guidelines.
The DM also inspected CCTV control rooms set up at the examination centres and observed the ongoing monitoring conducted through the surveillance cameras.
