LUCKNOW: Annoyed at the prolonged problem of inadequate water supply, residents of Rajajipuram protested outside the Jal Sansthan office on Monday. As many as 30,000 residents of the locality are suffering from severe water shortage for the past two years. For them, it is a struggle everyday to fulfil their daily requirement of water.
The situation got worse when residents of Sector 12 got no water supply for five days.

Shivkant Tripathi, the president of Jan Kalyan Samiti, said, “The problem is very severe in the area and all five wards suffer because of inadequate water supply. At times, supply is gone for days, residents have to manage through public taps or they are left with no choice but to get the tankers.
Residents complain that even if they get water supply, it is only for 15-20 minutes, once in a day. “Water supply is so scarce that almost everyday we need to get water from public taps,” said Sheela Sharma.
Though Rajajipuram residents allege lack of supply for days, authorities say otherwise.
“A tubewell is dysfunctional since a day and that is why people are facing this issue. That they do not get water for days is not true,” said Rajiv Bajpayi, general manager of Jal Sansthan.”
