LUCKNOW: Despite allocating hefty funds every year for repair of dilapidated roads across city, there are some localities which have not seen repair of roads for over a decade. Rajajipuram residents are one among the sufferers who are using uneven and completely broken roads for years. Leave alone colony arteries, even the main roads like the one from C block bridge to old cooperative bank and Rajajipuram's Champion Kothi to D block are in extremely bad condition.

Sudhir Triapthi, member of the RWA said, "Even after repeated complaints, LMC never allocated funds for repairing the C block bridge road. We had requested the urban development minister Azam Khan in 2013 to instruct LMC to build the road. Despite his orders, the road is in same broken condition. This is a busy road as it runs through three prominent schools of the area and market."
Locals said the C block road to Old cooperative bank connects Rajajipuram to Alambagh and daily hundreds of people commute through it. It is also used by small kids who go to schools located on this road. "Daily children get hurt while moving on the stretch. Only a year ago, a senior citizen had fallen off from the bike and succumbed to injuries. The LMC officials have turned a blind eye towards our plight and have no concern for our worries", says Anita, a housewife.
Other roads like from Rajajipuram's Champion Kothi to D block, approach road towards Jalalpur crossing, the road in front of Omkareshwar temple in B block etc- have also withered and have not been metalled for over 10-12 years. At some places, even the newly laid roads have caved in and withered away with rains due to poor quality construction.
Sudhir says, "It is shocking to see that LMC doesn't even listen to its minster's orders. The authorities had assured us in 2013 that the state government has allocated Rs 18 crore for repair of roads which need urgent repair and have not been taken up any development scheme for years. Three years down the line, the road situation has only deteriorated."
