Lucknow: Over 39,857 service bookings were moderated by the UP govt's Sewa Mitra Portal since its inception in 2021.
The portal makes domestic services easily accessible to people across UP, while creating employment opportunities for thousands of skilled workers, helping them become self-reliant. "These numbers are set to rise as the department is working to amplify its reach through an aggressive marketing strategy," training and employment director Neha Prakash, said.
Data showed that the Sewa Mitra toll-free helpline (155330) received over 38.49 lakh calls, highlighting its wide reach. Another key highlight is that service providers on the Sewa Mitra received a total payment of Rs 27,53,794 directly through their wallets. The scheme was launched to connect citizens with essential services like plumbers, electricians, mechanics, AC technicians, carpenters and laundry providers at their doorstep, while ensuring skilled workers find employment near their homes. This, in turn, reduced the need for migration to other cities.
"Sewa Mitra is a vital step in combining digital governance with economic empowerment," a govt official, said, adding that 52,349 skilled workers are registered on the portal, many of whom are skilled young men and women who lacked the right platform to find work.
Officials said the department is working to link more services to the portal and expand it to every district and municipal area. This will allow people in small towns and rural regions to benefit as well. The aim is to generate more local employment and make this initiative helpful for every section of society.
