Two minors raped in Jhansi

JHANSI: Two minor girls were allegedly raped in separate incidents here on Monday. In the first incident, 16-year-old Madhu (name changed) of village Mari alleged that she was raped by three youths when she had gone to the agricultural field to give lunch to her mother. The girl, however, recognized only one accused - Rohit of village Padri. Madhu's family members found her in a semi-conscious state next day outside a temple in the village.
SSP Jhansi A Satish Ganesh, however, said Madhu was changing her statements.He said the girl's interrogation revealed that she had an intimate relationship with Rohit and had gone with him. Since Madhu did not return home the entire night, she concocted the rape story. The police have, however, arrested Rohit as Madhu's medical test was positive and he was named in the written complaint given by her.
In another incident, a 14-year-old girl of village Bagwari Khirak under police station Katera was raped on Monday by a boy of the same village. Reports said, Rupa (name changed) was alone in her house when Santosh, 20, barged in and raped her. When Rupa told her family members about the incident, a panchayat was convened but no conclusion could be drawn. Next day, the family reported the matter to the police and the girl was sent for a medical check-up. Station officer, Katera, Rakesh Kumar said a case under section 376 has been registered against Santosh but he was absconding.
