UP STF arrests criminal wanted in Maha in Lucknow
Lucknow: The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh on Friday arrested 24-year-old Rakesh Jaiswal, alias Rakesh Jaiswar, a wanted criminal with a Rs 50,000 bounty on his head, from Polytechnic Crossing in the Ghazipur police station area.
The STF disclosed that Jaiswal had absconded from Mumbai Police custody and was also wanted in a case in Lucknow. Acting on intelligence inputs, a team led by sub-inspector Amit Kumar Tiwari arrested him from Polytechnic Crossing, said ASP, STF, Dinesh Kumar Singh.
The ASP informed TOI that during questioning, Jaiswal admitted to absconding with a minor girl in Mumbai, which led to charges of abduction and sexual assault. He was reportedly planning to escape to Nepal.
Jaiswal had been arrested earlier on Oct 23, 2023, in Kushinagar and was being transported to Mumbai by rail when he managed to flee near Aishbagh, Lucknow. After escaping, he concealed himself in Hyderabad and returned to Lucknow on Jan 3.
He has been transferred to GRP Charbagh Police Station for further legal proceedings, the STF confirmed.
