LUCKNOW: The written examination for the Direct Recruitment of Constables in Civil Police and equivalent posts-2025 concluded successfully across
Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, with authorities reporting a smooth and peaceful conduct of the examination despite detecting several instances of impersonation, forged documents and dissemination of misleading information on social media.
According to the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB), the examination was conducted in two shifts on June 8, 9 and 10 at 1,183 examination centres spread across all 75 districts of the state.
The board stated that a total of 28,86,798 candidates had applied for the recruitment examination, including 19,62,561 male candidates, accounting for 67.99 per cent of applicants, and 9,24,237 female candidates, accounting for 32.01 per cent. Of the total candidates called for the examination, 21,92,236 candidates appeared, resulting in an attendance rate of 75.94 per cent.
Strict Vigilance During Examination
The recruitment board maintained close monitoring of examination centres and social media platforms throughout the examination period. During the three-day examination process, authorities detected multiple cases involving forged identity documents, impersonation attempts and the circulation of allegedly false and misleading content related to the recruitment examination.
Candidate Caught Using Forged Aadhaar Card in Noida
In one of the major cases, officials at Mihir Bhoj PG College examination centre in Gautam Buddha Nagar found discrepancies during the e-KYC verification of a candidate identified as Ankit Kumar, a resident of Etah district. Further verification allegedly revealed that the candidate had appeared for the examination using a forged Aadhaar card.
Following the discovery, an FIR was registered at Dadri police station on June 9 under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and legal proceedings have been initiated.
Impersonation Bid Detected in Aligarh
In another case at DAV Girls Inter College in Aligarh, a candidate identified as Ankit, a resident of Bulandshahr district, was allegedly found appearing in the examination under a fake identity. Authorities said biometric verification and document checks revealed that he had allegedly used a forged Aadhaar card and was impersonating another candidate named Lokesh.
A case was registered at Quarsi police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination Act, 2024. The accused has been arrested and further legal action is underway.
Action Against Misleading Social Media Content
he Recruitment Board also initiated legal action against several social media users accused of spreading allegedly misleading and factually incorrect information regarding the recruitment examination.
Based on complaints received through the board's dedicated WhatsApp helpline number, 9454457951, separate FIRs were registered at Hussainganj police station in Lucknow against operators of YouTube and Instagram accounts accused of circulating misleading videos related to the examination.
Cases have been lodged against a YouTube channel operator identified as Shubham Mittal and multiple Instagram users, including accounts operating under the names "reshami68yadav", "durgeshsaxena94", "mukti. reem_98", and "Rohitvlogs_24*7". Authorities invoked provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Technology Act, 2008, and in some cases, the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination Act, 2024.
Another Suspect Detained in Kanpur
On Wednesday, examination officials at Lalu Prasad Intermediate College on Mall Road in Kanpur Nagar identified another candidate, Nagesh Kumar of Jaunpur district, during a routine verification process. Authorities alleged that he had appeared in the examination using forged documents.
The candidate was detained for questioning, and legal proceedings are being initiated after verification of the documents.
Twelve FIRs Registered So Far
The Recruitment Board said that, apart from the cases detected on Wednesday, a total of 12 criminal cases related to the constable recruitment examination have been registered over the past few days. So far, nine accused persons have been arrested and legal action has been ensured against them.
Officials said the stringent monitoring system, biometric verification, e-KYC authentication, CCTV surveillance and real-time reporting mechanisms played a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of one of the country's largest police recruitment examinations.
The board reiterated its commitment to ensuring a fair, transparent and cheat-free recruitment process and warned that strict action would continue against anyone attempting to manipulate the examination system or spread misinformation regarding the recruitment drive.
