After moving Punjab and Haryana high court, Sanjeev Sharma Bittu returns to claim chair of Patiala mayor again

Less than a week after a resolution on his suspension from the mayor’s post was passed by some councillors in the House of Patiala municipal corporation, former CM Capt Amarinder Singh’s loyalist, Sanjeev Sharma Bittu, on Wednesday returned to the office to claim the chair.

PATIALA: Less than a week after a resolution on his suspension from the mayor’s post was passed by some councillors in the House of Patiala municipal corporation, former CM Capt Amarinder Singh’s loyalist, Sanjeev Sharma Bittu, on Wednesday returned to the office to claim the chair.
Bittu reached his office in MC along with Capt Amarinder Singh’s daughter Jai Inder Kaur, former CM’s close confidant and former PRTC chairman K K Sharma and others.

He held a show of strength with slogans in favour of former CM Capt Amarinder Singh. However, senior deputy mayor Y S Yogi who claimed to have become the officiating mayor after Bittu’s suspension raised objections on the slogans.
Bittu said, “During the hearing over my petition (CWP 24290/2021) filed in the Punjab and Haryana high court, I had tabled my views before the court over the undemocratic proceedings against me in the general house meeting on ‘Vote of Confidence’.”
Cabinet minister Brahm Mohindra said, “The matter is sub judice and I won’t be able to comment on this.”
