Scores of enthusiastic residents brought their dogs to participate in the event.
One of the organizers said the show was being held to create awareness among people about different breeds of dogs besides educating them how to take care of their pets.
The participants and their dogs seemed all excited to be part of the show.
"My dog had won the second prize in the dog show organized in Mohali some time back. I hope he will win the first prize this time," said Neetu Singh, who came from Chandigarh.
Neetu said she was a pet lover and had been keeping pets from the last 20 years. "I now have a Lhasa Apso Tibetan breed of dogs and his name is Budy," she added.

She said the competition had become tough because Budy's father 'Budy Bingo' was a champion from the last five years and was giving him a tough fight.
Commenting on the show, Sonu, a dog trainer said, "People keep special trainers for their dogs to help them participate in such shows."
"Dogs learn fast and as it is a known fact that dogs are man's best friend, they develop good relationships with the trainer," he added.
