LUDHIANA: Enthused by the award winning performance of his 9-month-old cane corso, Wang Jenn, a resident of Bhadur House, is leaving no stone unturned in training his dog harder so that he continues to perform well in the upcoming dog shows.
Zhango (male) recently won a gold medal in a GADVASU dog show for his exceptional features. Jenn, who runs a restaurant in Sarabha Nagar market, said his pet made him proud with his performance.
He said Zhango was minutely inspected by doctors in the dog show before his win. Jenn is now preparing to send his pet to a professional training school so that he is groomed well. Apart from Zhango, he also possesses Jessie (female).
Jenn said a pair of Cane Corso, which was sent to him in February by his relatives settled in Canada, cost him around Rs 1 lakh.
He doesn't manage the dogs alone, as they are very big in size and ferocious, he said. "My two close associates, Harmanjeet and Sunny, help me to look after Zhango. They tamed him well," added Jenn, who has changed the diet of his pet after the win to make him perform much better.
Earlier Jenn used to feed him curd and pedigree but now he has increased the ratio of its non-vegetarian food.
After winning the gold medal, Zhango was registered by a veterinary university that would keep informing him about the forthcoming dog shows in the country. Jessie and Zhango are not the first one to be imported to Ludhiana. The craze for imported pets is very high in city, which boasts of having foreign breeds like shih tzu, Russian poodle, yorkshire terrier, napoleon mastiff and French bulldog.
