2 students killed in road accident

Madurai: Two students studying at an engineering college in Virudhungar district were killed in a road accident at Usilampatti in Madurai district. The incident took place on Sunday noon when they came to Madurai to attend their friend’s family function.
The victims were identified as S Rooban, 21, from Nalliveeranpatti near Usilampatti and his friend K Mohammed Dawood Ali, 20, from Pothanur in Coimbatore city. They were final year students at an engineering college in Srivilliputhur.
Even as the function was in progress, the two took their bike to fill fuel at Usilampatti town. While returning, they collided head-on with an auto rickshaw in the Madurai-Theni Main Road.
They died on the spot after being thrown off from the bike. On being alerted, a police team rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to Usilampatti government hospital for post mortem. A large number of students gathered at the hospital. A case was registered with the Usilampatti town police station and a detailed inquiry was carried out.
