Madurai: BJP is using language as a tool for divisive politics after religion to divert people's attention from various problems faced by the country, says MDMK principal secretary and Trichy MP Durai Vaiko.
Talking to reporters after attending a wedding in Madurai on Sunday, Durai Vaiko said Dravidian parties have been working hard to promote the Tamil language.
He said leaders such as Amit Shah are campaigning in north India against English and for an English-free India. "Can there be development without English?" he asked. "The country and people are struggling with numerous issues. The BJP govt has not dispensed the salaries for NREGP workers for the past three months. After religion, language is used to flare tension," he said.
Commenting on Vijay, Durai Vaiko said that he is a good cine artist with a large fan base. "But Vijay has a long way to go. He has to come out and meet the public and face the press," he said.
On Prashant Kishore supporting TVK, Durai said that Prashant Kishore's predictions won't work in Tamil Nadu as in the past.
