Inspector suspended after sexual harassment plaint by woman officer

Tuticorin: A police inspector was placed under suspension on Sunday over an allegation of sexual harassment complaint by the woman police officer.

S N Thileeban, inspector for the Arumuganeri police station, was suspended by Tirunelveli city police commissioner Deshmuk Shekar Sanjay (DIG in-charge of the Tirunelveli range).

“Following a complaint from the woman personnel, we have placed him under suspension as per departmental proceedings. Upon further investigation, necessary action would be taken against the inspector,” a senior police official said..

Police said the woman officer who filed this complaint was selected to be inducted into the newly formed ‘Singapen Special Task Force.’

Earlier, inspector Thileeban released a video on his Instagram page denying allegations of sexual harrassment. He stated that while he may speak harshly to ensure work is done, he has never subjected any woman officials to harassment. The inspector expressed his readiness to cooperate with the investigation.
