Pleasant weather to bring relief to Madurai residents
Madurai: Following the scorching heat for the past few weeks, residents of Madurai can expect some relief as cloudy skies are predicted for the coming days with an almost three degrees drop in the average mercury supported by strong winds, and rainy days.
Relief from the current heatwave affecting the country is expected following the delayed start of the monsoon season in Kerala. According to reports from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for the coming week, maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 35 to 36 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures around 26 to 27. Residents can expect partially to generally cloudy skies accompanied by some light rainfall.
Compared to the extreme heat and scorching sun for the past few days in Madurai, where temperatures soared up to 40 degrees, the cloudy skies are expected provide some welcome relief, especially for school children, who recently returned to school.
In Tirunelveli, Manimuthar falls has been experiencing flooding for the past five days. According to reports, Manimuthar experienced 17.4mm of rain on Monday, while Nalumukku experienced 102mm, and Oothu saw 114mm of rainfall.
At Courtallam, bathing has been banned as a precautionary measure following a sudden inflow of water following heavy rainfall on Sunday and Monday afternoon.
