Sathankulam case: HC seeks CBI reply

Madurai: The Madras high court on Friday directed the CBI to file a counter affidavit on the bail plea moved by suspended inspector of police S Sridhar who was arrested in connection with the custodial deaths of P Jeyaraj and his son J Beniks at Sathankulam in Tuticorin district in 2020.
Sridhar’s four earlier bail petitions were dismissed by HC. This is his fifth bail petition.In his petition, Sridhar stated that the vital witnesses have been examined by the trial court . and he would give an undertaking that he would not tamper with the witnesses. Stating that he would abide by any conditions imposed by the court, the petitioner sought bail.
Justice G Ilangovan directed the CBI to file a counter affidavit and adjourned the case to September 8.
