T T V Dhinakaran among 150 who violated ban orders

AIADMK (Amma) faction leader T T V Dhinakaran, state Congress president, S Thirunavukkarasar and several other political leaders were among the 150 people who were booked by the Sivaganaga police on Friday for violating prohibitory orders promulgated by the district collector on the occasion of Marudhu brothers guru pooja.

SIVAGANGA: AIADMK (Amma) faction leader T T V Dhinakaran, state Congress president, S Thirunavukkarasar and several other political leaders were among the 150 people who were booked by the Sivaganaga police on Friday for violating prohibitory orders promulgated by the district collector on the occasion of Marudhu brothers guru pooja.
The cases were registered in the Kalayarkovil police station under whose limit the memorial falls based on complaints from police officers.

In total, 68 cases were registered. Apart from Dinakaran and Thirunavukkarasar, MLA and Mukkulathor Pulipadai leader, S Karunas, All India Moovendar Munnetra Kazhagam leader N Sethuraman, Moovendar Munnetra Kazhagam (MMK) leader, G M Sridhar Vandayar president of MMK, Sreedhar Vandaiyar and former minister Suba Thangavelan were also booked. Police said that most of the cases were registered under sections of IPC – disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant and 143- unlawful assembly.
In order to conduct the function peacefully and to minimise inconvenience to the public, district administration had promulgated Section 144 and restricted the movement of vehicles. Periya Marudhu and Chinna Marudhu brothers, who were known for their valour and war tactics and rose to the ranks of rulers, although they were from a humble background. Periya Marudhu was born in 1748 and his brother was born in 1753 in a Virudhunagar village, which was then part of Ramanathapuram state.
