1,500 to participate in International Yoga Day celebrations at DC office
Mangaluru: Around 1,500 people, including students and govt officials are expected to participate in the international Yoga Day celebrations at the Praja Soudha in Padil on June 21, as a part of the 12th International Yoga Day celebrations. The event will be held from 5am to 7am.
Meanwhile the district administration will host the main celebrations titled ‘Yoga Sangama’ at the Mini Town Hall. In the main programme, public representatives, govt officials and students will participate in a 45 minute yoga demonstration under the guidance of yoga instructor Gopalakrishna Delampady, additional deputy commissioner K Raju told the media here on Thursday. In addition, basic health checkup counters have also been arranged at the venue, he said.
He also said that the ministry of AYUSH is set to attempt a Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous participation in an online yoga session from 6.15 am to 7.35 am on June 14. All AYUSH colleges in the district have started yoga training as a part of the pre-yoga day programmes. Yoga training programmes are already under way by deploying yoga trainers from AYUSH colleges to health institutions in different districts of the state to provide yoga training to institutions under the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
Various yoga competitions have been organised as part of the Pre-Yoga Day programmes in all the AYUSH colleges of the district. Awareness programmes including reels have been organised through social media. Organisations like Delampady Yoga Pratishthan, Avishkar Yoga, Patanjali Yoga Academy are already providing yoga training to thousands.
