Kudremukh Trophy: Parab of Goa wins

Mangaluru: International Master Ritviz Parab from Goa, Manigandan SS from Tamil Nadu and Dhanush Ram M from Karnataka were placed first, first runner-up and second runner-up in the Open category of the All India Open Fide rating rapid chess tournament for the 5th Kudremukh Trophy held at the KIOCL Township, Kavoor, here on Saturday and Sunday.
There were 416 participants from all over India, with the youngest player being four years and eldest being 83-years-old.
This National Chess Tournament had listed 184 trophies with cash prizes worth Rs 3 lakh.
The tournament was conducted under the guidance of the international arbiter B H Vasanth and deputy arbiters Sakashath, Umanath Kapu, Saundarya, Babu Poojary, Nayan Karakal.
Prizes were distributed for the Open Level, under 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 years in both male and female categories. Prizes were distributed for DK player categories and special prizes were distributed to the youngest players, physically challenged and veterans. The valedictory ceremony on Sunday was attended by T Saminathan, director (finance), KIOCL chairman and MD Swapan Kumar Gorai.
