Labourer trapped inside well after soil collapses on him

Udupi: During the construction of a well, a landslide trapped a worker in the soil at Madhvanagar in Uddinahithlu near Malpe on Friday.

Prabhat Shetty from Sanoor in Karkala had brought five labourers from Koppala to work on well construction at the property of Chethan in Madhvanagar. Removing soil from the well commenced on Thursday. Around 5pm on Friday, labourer Ramesh,25, was working in the well, when the soil suddenly collapsed on him, burying him.

Police said an emergency operation was conducted at the site with the help of fire and emergency department personnel and local cooperation. A case has been registered, and an investigation will be conducted.
