More CBSE students opt for revaluation this year
Mangaluru: A rise in revaluation requests from CBSE class XII students has raised concerns over this year’s evaluation process, with many alleging that a new assessment method may have led to unexpectedly low marks across subjects. The issue has triggered anxiety among students and parents, particularly those seeking admission to colleges and professional courses, and appears to have affected both science and commerce streams.
Rev Fr Rohan D’Almeida, principal of St Aloysius Gonzaga School, said several students were dissatisfied with their scores, particularly in physics. “We received grievances from students across streams, with many reporting marks below expectations in several subjects,” he said, adding that physics students appeared to be among the worst affected, prompting many to apply for revaluation.
A principal said the timing of the results had added to student distress, especially after the cancellation of the NEET. “Lower board marks have further affected students’ prospects, particularly for those appearing for CET, where board scores are considered, and for students applying to institutions outside the state,” the principal said, adding that significantly more students have applied for revaluation this year compared to previous years.
CBSE has opened its post-result process for students seeking access to evaluated answer sheets, verification and reevaluation. Students can download answer scripts from May 19 to 22, and apply for corrections from May 26 to 29.
