Accused in theft case nabbed within 24 hours

Mangaluru: Mangaluru East police were successful in arresting a man who stole valuables worth Rs 6.8 lakh from a parked car, by smashing the window, near Kankanady market in Mangaluru. The arrest was made within 24 hours of the incident.
Commissioner of police Anupam Agrawal said that the arrested individual is Abdul Akram, 33, from Adyar. In a complaint to Mangaluru East police, Priyanka stated that her husband travelled to Mumbai for work and was scheduled to return by a flight on Dec 8 night. The complainant was supposed to pick him up at Mangaluru International Airport. As his flight was delayed, she went to a restaurant near Kankanady for dinner. On her return after dinner, she noticed the window of the car was smashed and valuables inside the car were stolen from the dashboard.
The value of the stolen items was Rs 6.8 lakh. The value of the total seized property is Rs 7.3 lakh. The police also recovered the scooter used for committing the offence.
