MUMBAI: Two policemen—Shrikant Ghadge and Ramesh Shinde—were injured when a speeding taxi rammed into their motorbike near Horniman Circle on Saturday night. Constables Ghadge and Shinde have been hospitalized. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the unidentified taxi driver who fled after the mishap.

Bizman robbed of gold worth 1.4L
Three men robbed a businessman, Sameer Patel (33), of gold chains worth Rs 1.4 lakh at Andheri (W) on Sunday. In another case at Aarey, two men on bikes snatched a 22 gm gold mangalsutra from an elderly woman, Vandana Pandit, travelling in an auto on Sunday. No arrests have been made in both cases.
Man loots home while on parole
The Powai police arrested 32-year-old Amroz Khan alias Papa on August 17 for looting a ration shop owner’s home of Rs 5,000. Khan was in prison for murder and was on parole. “We had warned jail authorities against Khan’s release. He is a notorious criminal,” a police officer said.
Polio drive covers 71% kids
About 71% of the city’s children below the age of five years were immunized against polio as part of BMC’s polio drive on Sunday. “The target was 9,49,800 children out of which 6,73,709 were vaccinated” , said Dr Kishore Harugoli, BMC’s incharge of the pulse polio drive.
