MUMBAI: Over four years after a pianist allegedly ended his life at a friend’s home in Bandra, the police have closed the case, suggesting that no criminal involvement has been found.
The city crime branch filed a ‘C summary’ report in the death case of pianist Karan Joseph (29), who had allegedly jumped from the 13th floor of a Bandra building in 2017.

The police report ijmplies that no abetment of suicide was found in investigation and have closed the case.
Joseph, who had been staying with his friend — music producer Rishi Shah — had allegedly jumped from Shah’s flat on the 13th floor on September 9, 2017. Joseph’s parents had alleged foul play in their son's death. They had said that he was neither depressed nor was he in financial distress.
Karan had just finished his contract with Oscar-winning music director AR Rahman, Karan’s father, Dr Thomas Joseph, a Bengaluru-based paediatrician, had said. After the allegation, the police had registered an abetement to suicide case and the probe was handed over to the crime branch.
“The parents had doubts over the suicide and allegations were made. We have probed the case thoroughly and no abetment was found.,” said deputy commissioner of police (crime branch) Neelotpal.
