MUMBAI: Mumbai local train services will be affected on Sunday due to five-hour megablocks on Central, Harbour and Western lines.
The megablocks will likely cause inconvenience to a large number of passengers relying on these routes.
On Central Railway line, the rail block will be from Matunga to Mulund on Up and Down slow lines from 11.05am to 3.55pm.
The Up slow services leaving Thane from 10.58am to 3.59pm will be diverted on Up fast at Mulund station halting at Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla and Sion stations will be further re-diverted on Up slow line at Matunga station and will arrive destination 15 minutes behind schedule.
On Harbour line, the block will be undertaken on Panvel-Vashi Up and Down corridor from 11.05am to 4.05pm. The Up Transharbour line services towards Thane leaving Panvel from 11.02am to 3.53pm and Down Transharbour line services towards Panvel leaving Thane from 10.01am to 3.20pm will remain cancelled. Suburban train services between Belapur/Nerul and Kharkopar will run as per schedule during the block period.
Trans Harbour line services will be available between Thane-Vashi/Nerul stations during the block period. Special suburban trains will run on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai-Vashi section during the block period.
On Western Railway line, to carry out maintenance work of tracks, signals and overhead equipment, a jumbo block of five hours will be taken on the Up and Down slow lines between Churchgate and Mumbai Central (local) stations from 10.35am at to 3.35pm.
"During the block period, all slow line trains will be operated on fast lines between Churchgate and Mumbai Central (local)," said WR chief spokesperson Sumit Thakur. Due to this, some Up and Down suburban trains will remain cancelled.
CR chief spokesperson Shivraj Manaspure said, “These maintenance mega blocks are essential for infrastructure upkeep and safety. Passengers are requested to bear with the railway administration for the inconvenience caused.”
