MUMBAI:Jet Airways sacked 40 cabin crew on Monday. The airline, in the process ofterminating the services of a section of employees since the past couple ofweeks, suspended 50 others on Saturday.
An airline spokesperson saidthe total number of laid-off staff was 209; it included 60 cabin crew and 119staffers from its stations abroad. "Jet Airways has undertaken additionalmeasures to streamline costs to improve the financial health of the companyunder the current challenges of the global environment.
The airlinehas issued notices of termination to some of the cabin crew on probation inaccordance with their terms of contract and compliance with law,'' thespokesperson said, adding: "Jet has created an out-placement cell that hasoffered to provide active assistance to the cabin crew desirous of seekingemployment with other carriers and organisations in the serviceindustry.''
