Ambernath’s New Cultural Hub: Eknath Shinde Inaugurates Dharmveer Anand Dighe Auditorium with 658 Seats, Two Conference Halls, Exhibition Gallery, Workshop Space, Green Rooms, Cafeteria, and Ample Parking for Theatre, Musicand Arts Events

On the festive occasion of Diwali, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated the newly constructed Dharmveer Anand Dighe Auditorium in Ambernath, marking a historic moment for the city’s cultural development. The event highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting arts and theatre within local communities.

The Dharmveer Anand Dighe Auditorium is designed as a modern, high-tech facility featuring advanced sound and lighting systems, a spacious and elegant stage, and all contemporary amenities, ensuring an immersive and professional experience for performers and audiences alike.

With a seating capacity of 658, the auditorium is modeled after Thane’s renowned Gadkari Rangayatan, blending aesthetic elegance with functionality, and providing theatre enthusiasts from Ambernath and neighboring areas a comfortable venue to enjoy live performances without traveling to distant cities.

Beyond theatre, the auditorium is designed as a comprehensive cultural center, capable of hosting music concerts, art exhibitions, workshops, and stage shows. It aims to become a platform for nurturing artistic talent and fostering community engagement with performing arts.

The auditorium complex houses two small conference halls, a dedicated exhibition gallery, and a workshop space for creative activities, along with green rooms for artists, making it a versatile venue for both cultural performances and educational events.

The facility includes thoughtful conveniences such as a cry room for parents with infants, a cafeteria for visitors, and large parking facilities, ensuring a comfortable and inclusive experience for audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

To mark its opening, a week-long series of cultural performances by celebrated Marathi artists has been planned, allowing residents of Ambernath and surrounding regions to experience diverse and high-quality art, music, and theatre locally, without having to travel to Thane, Dombivli, or Kalyan.

The inaugural event witnessed the attendance of cultural stalwarts including Padma Shri and Maharashtra Bhushan awardee Ashok Saraf, along with veteran Marathi film personalities such as Mahesh Kothare, Makarand Anaspure, and Usha Nadkarni, reflecting the auditorium’s importance in the state’s cultural landscape.

Named in honor of Dharmveer Anand Dighe, the auditorium celebrates his legacy of empowering artists and promoting cultural activities in Maharashtra, symbolizing a commitment to preserving and nurturing the state’s rich artistic and theatrical heritage.

Strategically located near Circus Ground in Ambernath (West), the auditorium complements the city’s historical and cultural identity, with plans to enhance the nearby ancient Ambernath Shiva temple area. This integration aims to establish Ambernath as both a devotional and cultural hub, preserving its legacy while offering modern facilities to residents and tourists alike.
