ULHASNAGAR: The
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to take control of Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation. The saffron party, which has won 34 seats in the 78-member house, claimed late on Friday that the chief of Secular Alliance of India (SAI), Jeevan Idnani, had declared support to the BJP in Ulhasnagar. It is for the first time that the BJP is set to have its mayor in Ulhasnagar.
The BJP needed the support of six corporators to reach the magic figure of 40 in the civic house.
Idnani told the media, “I offered support to BJP on the development issue.“
This development comes as a setback to
Shiv Sena, which was also hoping to strike an alliance with the same party in Ulhasnagar.
