MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government intends to form a core team with officials from Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Reserve Bank of India (RBI), NABARD, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the state cooperative department and the police, to probe the multi-crore securities scam involving cooperative banks.
Talks for the creation of a task force will be held at Varsha, the official residence of Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on Tuesday.
Chaired by Mr Deshmukh, the meeting will be attended by SEBI chairman G.N. Bajpai and Pradeep Kar one of its directors, RBI executive director B.B. Mathur, NABARD chairman N. Nanda, state cooperative secretary Rajiv Aggarwal, finance secretary Mr Srivastav and senior officials from the CBI and the economic offences wing of the Mumbai police.
