Malad maid was raped: Reports

MUMBAI: The suicide case involving a 12-year-old maid took a shocking turn on Tuesday with the post-mortem reports and forensic examination suggesting that the minor girl,Pinky Das,was raped a few hours before she ended her life.
Following the reports,the Malwani police have included rape charges in the complaint lodged against her employers.The case has seen several twists and turns from the day the incident came to light.
Initially,the Malwani police registered a case of suicide after they came to know about the girls death at Jankalyan Nagar in Malad (W).When we went to the spot,neighbours told us that Pinky used to be tortured regularly.We then arrested the employer and two of his family members for abetting suicide, an officer said.
The accused have been identified as Arijit Das (33),wife Sukanya (28),and his cousin Jayjeet Chakaravorty (24).The trio was later remanded to judicial custody.The three are in our custody again till Wednesday in view of the fresh development.The accused have now been booked for rape, the officer said.Investigators will now ascertain as to who raped the girl.
Assistant commissioner of police Musa Shaikh said,We booked the accused for abetting her suicide.The post-mortem report indicated that she was sexually abused.We requested the court and added the rape section in the case.We are awaiting more medical reports to zero in on the rapist.
According to sources,Pinky ended her life as she was allegedly tortured by her employer and was also being sexually abused by them for the last many years.Tired of the torture,she doused herself with kerosene and set herself afire on the building staircase, an investigator said.Neighbours and other residents told the cops that they had seen the girl crying inside the building premises on several occasions.
Pinky had been working with the Das family after her mother died a couple of years ago and her father got married again.The deceased and accused were neighbours in Assam, a police officer said The accused would not feed her properly and punished her for trivial reasons, he added.
