Man steals to fly to Ranchi, finds Naxals waiting for him

A 20-year-old man’s desire to fulfil his fantasy of taking a flight to his home district Ranchi landed him in jail and, in the melee, drew the attention of Naxals. M Das, on Monday fled with Rs 2.38 lakh from his employer’s shop in Vikhroli.

MUMBAI: A 20-year-old man’s desire to fulfil his fantasy of taking a flight to his home district Ranchi landed him in jail and, in the melee, drew the attention of Naxals. M Das, on Monday fled with Rs 2.38 lakh from his employer’s shop in Vikhroli.
After the police started making enquiries, buzz reached Dova, his Naxalite-zone village in Ranchi, that he had stolen Rs 25 lakh from Mumbai and fled.

“After the theft, Das flew to Ranchi and took an AC taxi to Dova. At Dova, Naxals approached him, wanting to know about the Rs 25 lakh theft,” said an officer. The city police reached Dova and arrested Das.
