MUMBAI: Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan said that the govt is implementing the "Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana" for the empowerment of women in the age group of 21 to 65 years in the state. Under this scheme, more than 2 crore 34 lakh beneficiary women are being given an amount of Rs 1,500 per month in five monthly instalments from July to November 2024. The Governor assured that this scheme will continue.
The govt has announced the "Fourth Women's Policy-2024" for the social, economic, and educational development of women and is implementing the "Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana," which provides a free refill of 3 gas cylinders annually to the eligible beneficiaries. He said that the "Punyashlok Ahilya Devi Holkar Mahila Navodyog Yojana" has been launched to provide financial assistance up to Rs 25 lakh to women entrepreneurs in the initial stages of their business.
The governor said that to boost the skills among the youth and provide skilled manpower to the industries, the “Chief Minister Youth Work Training Scheme” has been launched in the state, and under this scheme, 1,19,700 candidates participated in the training. 1000 Acharya Chanakya Skill Development Centres have been started in colleges to make youth employable. In these centres, 1.5 lakh youth will be trained every year.
The recruitment process for more than 1 lakh 53 thousand vacancies has been started to create employment opportunities for the youth. So far, 78,309 posts have been filled. Also, subject to the decision of the Supreme Court, Governor Mr Radhakrishnan said that the process of filling 6,931 vacancies in 17 cadres of the Scheduled Sector (Pesa) has been started.
The central govt recently gave the status of classical language to the Marathi language. This will help to establish special centres for studying the Marathi language in 450 universities. He also said that more funds will be available from the central govt for the preservation and conservation of the Marathi language.
Other highlights of the governor's address:
- State's Information Technology and Information Technology Support Services Policy, 2023, as well as Green Data Centre Policy.
- Green integrated data centre parks in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai regions. An estimated investment of more than one lakh crore rupees and the creation of 20,000 jobs.
- MoU for the supply of 10,000 skilled manpower with the state of Baden-Württemberg in Germany in February 2024.
- Decision to implement the Revised National Pension Scheme of the State Govt as well as the Integrated Pension Scheme of the Central Govt for employees covered under the National Pension Scheme.
- 19,55,548 houses have been sanctioned under "Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Rural" since 2014. Out of which 12,63,067 houses were completed.
- From July 2022 till now, 7,07,496 houses have been sanctioned under all state-sponsored housing schemes. Out of which 3,63,154 houses were completed.
- Administrative approval for the construction of Gram Panchayat buildings under the “Balasaheb Thackeray Smriti Matoshree Gram Panchayat Construction Yojana” for 2,786 Gram Panchayats without Gram Panchayat Buildings.
- Construction of 3,82,200 houses under the “Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban)” scheme in 409 cities across the state. 4,150 crore from the central govt and 4,475 crore from the state govt for this.
- CIDCO, a Maha Housing Scheme to provide 67,000 houses at affordable rates to economically weaker sections and low-income groups.
- Under various schemes of the Public Works Department, 7,480 km. Decision to cement concretise long roads.
- Development of a new six-lane greenfield expressway from Pune to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar through Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation.
- Bandra Kurla Complex to Aarey in Mumbai and District Court in Pune, Pune to Swargate metro lines open for public service.
- A total of 44 km in various parts of Pune under Pune Metro Rail Phase-2. Decision to construct four new metro lines in length.
- Expansion port project in Palghar district costing Rs 76,220 crore to boost the economy of the state along with the central govt.
- "Mega port sector project" at Murbe in Palghar district with an investment of Rs 4,259 crore with private sector participation.
- Administrative approval of 167 irrigation projects with an irrigation capacity of 25 lakh 21 thousand hectares in the last two years.
- Administrative approval for four river-linking projects, namely Vainganga-Nalganga, Nar-Par-Girna, Damanganga-Ekdare-Godavari, and Damanganga-Vaitrana-Godavari. Irrigation capacity of 4 lakh 33 thousand hectares will be created.
- Connection of more than 1 crore 27 lakh household taps in rural areas under the Jal Jeevan Mission Yojana in the state.
- Decision to implement “Dairy Development Project Phase-2” to increase milk production in Vidarbha and Marathwada Divisions.
- To speed up the process of regularisation of transfer of land parcels for non-agricultural purposes by making appropriate amendments in the Act to reduce the premium from 25 per cent of the market value of the land to 5 per cent.
- More than Rs 2,500 crore deposited in the bank accounts of more than 67 lakh cotton and soybean farmers in the state for the Kharif season 2023.
- An amount of Rs 8,892 crore deposited in the accounts of more than 91 lakh farmers till November 2024 under the “Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana” through direct benefit transfer.
- Compensation of Rs 7,466 crore to 1 crore 14 lakh farmers during the Kharif season of 2023 under the Crop Insurance Scheme. More than 71 lakh farmers insured more than 49 lakh hectares of land during the Rabi season of 2023-24.
- A total of 4,147 beneficiaries benefited under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana.
- Establishment of Maharashtra Ground Reservoir Fishermen Welfare Corporation and Maharashtra Marine Fishermen Welfare Corporation to provide benefits of various schemes to fishermen and their families.
