MUMBAI: Within 48 hours of a man being found murdered at Kandivali East, the police arrested his father-in-law and minor brother-in-law. A third accused is on the run. Shyamsunder Sahu, the deceased, lived in Santa Cruz East. His father-in-law, Sajjan Sahu, blamed him for his daughter's death that occurred many years ago.
According to the police, Shyamsunder, 35, worked in a laundry and lived in the same premises.
He was found murdered at Poisar early Friday. With no sign of identification on the body, Samta Nagar police circulated photographs of the body to all police stations. They learnt a man matching Shyamsunder's description had gone missing from Santa Cruz East. On quizzing Shyamsunder's friends, the cops found out that he had gone to visit Sajjan at Poisar on Thursday.
Shyamsunder had tied the knot with Sajjan's daughter and the couple had a baby girl. Six years ago, Shyamsunder's wife died in a blaze in Bihar. Sajjan found the circumstances dubious and felt Shyamsunder was to blame. Sajjan was subsequently entrusted care of the grandchild.
Recently, the child had to be admitted to school. Hence, Shyamsunder visited Sajjan's house to hand over her birth certificate on Thursday afternoon. A fight broke out between the two and Sajjan killed Shyamsunder in a fit of rage.
