Fire at Mumbra hospital

A major fire broke out at the Prime Criticare hospital in Thane's Mumbra in the wee hours of Wednesday, claiming four lives. The incident happened around 3.40 am due to a short circuit in the meter room, and four persons died while being shifted out to nearby hospitals. Photo: Anil Shinde/BCCL

Probe ordered

A police investigation will be carried out in the case of the four deaths that took place in the hospital. "Four people have died in today's incident. The cause of death will be ascertained through postmortems. Initially, we had received info that there are 12 people inside the hospital but the numbers may vary. Eknath Gaikwad passes away

Former Mumbai Congress chief Eknath Gaikwad passed away this morning at a Mumbai hospital due to COVID-19. The demise of the 81-year-old leader has come as a huge shock to the political arena including Congress. Gaikwad breathed his last at Breach Candy Hospital on Wednesday at around 10 am while undergoing coronavirus treatment. (File photo)
