Inauguration date & scope

PM Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the final 76km stretch of the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway—from Bhiwandi to Igatpuri—on May 2, marking the completion of the 701km corridor.

2/7

Toughest stretch built

The last leg between Igatpuri and Amne village in Bhiwandi was the most difficult to construct, as it cuts through the rugged terrain of the Sahyadris.

3/7

Travel time cut

Travel time between Mumbai and Nashik will reduce by up to an hour, down from the current 3 to 3.5 hours, offering a faster and smoother commute.

4/7

Safety checkpoints added

At the Mumbai-end entry gates, authorities will conduct tyre checks, air pressure monitoring, and breathalyser tests to ensure road safety compliance.

5/7

Major hurdles resolved

Construction challenges were overcome by relocating 62 low-tension power lines, rerouting 6 major cables, and successfully integrating with railway infrastructure.

6/7

Massive geographic reach

The expressway spans 26 talukas and 392 villages across 10 districts, improving access for 14 additional districts to Mumbai and Nagpur.

7/7

Speed & emergency services

Drivers can cruise at 100–120 km/h, reaching Nagpur from Mumbai in just 8 hours (compared to 16–17 earlier). Emergency helplines include 1800 233 2233, 8181818155, and 108 for ambulances.
