MUMBAI: An inspector was allegedly manhandled by a senior BJP leader from the eastern suburbs inside the Navghar police station on Thursday. But top officials were trying to suppress the news.
Sources said inspector Shyam Mundhe had summoned a political worker for a probe. When the political leader learnt this, he allegedly arrived at the police station.
He manhandled Mun8dhe and took away the party worker.Police inspector Shyam Mundhe immediately made a dairy entry of theincident that the political leader stopped him from performing his duty but the senior police officials were reluctant even to takenote of this offence.
Mundhe admitted to have been manhandled but refused to speak. tnnNavghar police senior inspector Ganesh Gaikwad said the matter has been blown out of proportion and there is nothing serious has taken place. Gaikwad denied that his colleague was assaulted and that there has been any commotion in the police station.
