Rs 2.3 crore under-construction public toilet razed in Kharghar

Navi Mumbai: The Panvel City Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) under-construction public toilet worth Rs 2.3 crore has been razed by Cidco near Utsav Chowk, Kharghar.

The PCMC allegedly encroached upon Cidco land. The PCMC allegedly did not obtain a no-objection certificate from Cidco, but most of the structural work of the toilet has been completed. Following the demolition on Tuesday, one of the corporators has demanded action against those responsible for the wasteful expenditure of the civic body funds. A former corporator allegedly demanded construction of the public toilet. Her demand was approved by the PCMC, and construction began, allegedly without checking the ownership.
