The Lokayukta police caught a village accountant and a village assistant accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 at Hebbale village of Belur taluk on Wednesday.

HASSAN: The Lokayukta police caught a village accountant and a village assistant accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 at Hebbale village of Belur taluk on Wednesday. Lokayukta SP A N Swamy said that Mohan Kumar, village accountant, had demanded Rs 2,000 from Shivkumar to process an old age pension application of Shivkumar's mother Huligamma. He had demanded the bribe to forward the data to the tahsildar's office.
According to a complaint from Shivkumar, the sleuths caught Mohan Kumar who had handed over the bribe to Kantharaju, a village assistant, he said.
Both Mohan Kumar and Kantharaju have been arrested and the bribe amount has been recovered.
