Activists demand fresh probe into Soujanya case
Mysuru: Activists in Mysuru, on Monday, protested, and sought a fresh investigation in the rape and murder of PU student Soujanya, twelve years ago near Dharmasthala. They demanded compensation for Santosh Rao, who was put behind bars for the murder of Soujanya and later acquitted by a court of law.Activists submitted a memorandum to the DC at his office, after a procession from the Buddha Statue in Siddhartha Nagar. The agitators urged the state govt to initiate disciplinary action against those responsible for the destruction of evidence, and demanded Rs 50 lakh compensation for Santosh Rao.They also urged the state govt to provide protection for all those who are fighting for justice. Karnataka Bhima Sene organising secretary M Manjunath, who led the protest, urged the state govt to intervene immediately, and carry out an impartial investigation, and also warned that the agitation will continue until the demands are met.
