Heavy rain disrupts traffic and power in Kodagu
Madikeri: Heavy rainfall was reported in many parts of Kodagu on Thursday, including the tourist town of Madikeri, affecting normal life even as it provided respite from the scorching heat.
Heavy showers led to a tree falling on the Virajpet–Moornad main road, disrupting traffic for about half an hour. Cadets of the NCC unit of Cauvery College, who were returning to Gonikoppal after completing training at Puthur, immediately sprang into action and cleared the fallen tree from the road. Officers lieutenant Akram and lieutenant Lepakshi were present during the operation.
Major parts of Madikeri taluk experienced power disruptions throughout the day due to rainfall and repair work taken up by CESC.
