MYSORE: Symbolizing communal harmony,
Ramzan was celebrated with fervour in the city on Monday.
Over 20,000 took part in mass prayers at Idgah Grounds in Tilak Nagar where Sir Khazi of Mysore, Hazarat Maulana Mohammed Usman Sharif, led the festivities calling for universal brotherhood. Police commissioner Sunil Agarwal and deputy commissioner P Manivannan attended the event.
Ramzan symbolizes purity of mind and body.
"We should include all in the festivities. The fasting during the month of Ramzan is a training period to discipline ourselves. We should not hurt others by our actions or words," said religious leader Mohammed Usman Sharif.
The principles imbibed during the month-long fasting should be followed throughout the year to create harmony and brotherhood, he asserted.
